Back in 2018, we celebrated a World Record achievement for the biggest online gambling payout when one of our Lottolanders won that amazing €90 million (£78M) from her EuroJackpot bet.
Powerball holds the world record for the biggest jackpot, but the Mega Millions lottery - currently at £333 million - is always a strong contender to Powerball.

The Biggest Lottery In The World
Powerball is in the record books as having paid the largest jackpot of all time whilst also ranking for the second biggest jackpot payout, with Mega Millions coming in at a third place.
The Powerball record is a jackpot worth $2.04 billion (£1.79 billion), and even though this is a staggering amount it is still a considerable amount less than the amount paid out in prizes by the Spanish Christmas Lottery, a.k.a. "El Gordo", which now has a new prize pool of €2.5 billion (£2.2 billion). The difference is that El Gordo shares that prize fund around much more equitably, so nobody will take home a single jackpot prize to rival that of Powerball.
But could Powerball or Mega Millions ever unseat El Gordo to take the title of "Biggest Lotto in the World?" There is still a way to go for either of those lottos to reach the magical £2.2 billion mark, but never say never!

The Biggest Ever Lotto Win
On the 8th of August 2023, Mega Millions gave us the second largest lotto amount ever won by one individual and the second biggest jackpot in history when the jackpot of $1.602 billion was won by a ticket purchased in Florida.
Powerball took the title of biggest ever lotto win by one person as a single-ticket holder from California won a whopping jackpot of $2.04 billion with Powerball on 7th November 2022. Making Powerball the current world's record-winning jackpot and world's biggest single win.
Biggest Lotto Win In The UK
The biggest lottery jackpot ever won in Britain belongs to an anonymous winner who hit the jackpot of £195.7 million.
